Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Caveat (caveat-ai.com) and its tools. Caveat is an independent, non-commercial project run by Niko Hems. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Not medical advice
Caveat is journalism and a self-tracking tool, not medical advice. Nothing here diagnoses, treats, or tells you what to take, and the experiments tool does not interpret your results as medical guidance. Always talk to a qualified clinician before acting on anything you read or track here, especially anything beyond the trivial.
2. Who can use Caveat
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the experiments tool.
3. Your account
Sign-in is passwordless: we email a one-time link to your address. Keep access to your email secure, because anyone with your inbox can sign in. Accounts are for one person; do not share them. We may suspend or close accounts used for abuse, illegal activity, or to attack the service.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse or disrupt the service, attempt to access data that is not yours or bypass security, scrape or harvest content with automated tools beyond normal personal use, or use the site for anything unlawful. You may quote and link to our checks with attribution, but please do not republish them wholesale as your own.
5. The experiments tool
The n-of-1 tool helps you design and track your own experiments. Its readouts are descriptive only, and never a verdict, recommendation, or diagnosis. You are solely responsible for what you choose to test and for your own health decisions. Your experiment data belongs to you; you can export or delete it at any time, and you grant us only the limited permission needed to store it and show it back to you so the tool works.
6. Free now, paid features later
The tool is currently free. If we introduce paid features in future, they will come with their own pricing and terms, and nothing here obliges you to pay for anything today.
7. Our content and intellectual property
The checks, writing, design and brand are the work of Niko Hems and are protected by copyright. You may read, share and link to them, and quote them briefly with attribution, but you may not copy them wholesale or present them as your own.
8. Accuracy, opinion and corrections
We work hard to source every claim-check and to separate fact from clearly-labelled opinion, but the content is for general information, can contain errors, and is not a substitute for professional advice. We update and correct checks as the evidence changes. If you think something is wrong, contact us and we will look into it.
9. Third-party links
Some pages link to outside sources. We are not responsible for the content or practices of other websites.
10. No warranty
The service is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Niko Hems is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on the content or the tool. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent or gross negligence or for injury to life, body or health, and your mandatory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
12. Changes
We may update the service and these terms. If we make material changes to the terms we will update this page and the date above. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Termination
You can stop using Caveat and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are breached or if we stop offering the service.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Germany. If you use Caveat as a consumer, you keep the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live.
